JACK

Ardour uses the JACK audio server to connect with audio hardware and other software.  JACK is a low-latency server which allows multiple software applications to use the same audio hardware and allows the applications to send/receive audio between themselves.  Ardour includes native support for JACK.  Other applications must be "JACK-enabled" in order to work with JACK.  More information about JACK and "JACK-enabled" applications can be found on JACK's website at http://jackaudio.org/.
