Dependable Live Recording with Ardour
Ardour is a very feature-rich DAW. That means there's an awful lot of code not directly related to recording that can go wrong and jeopardise your once-in-a-lifetime live recording opportunity. But if you have a tried and trusted Ardour setup that has seen some serious use (as opposed to just cobbled together from SVN), you can risk it.
Why use Ardour?
-> set markers, annotate, easier post workflow, session already prepared.
dangers?
-> disk underruns due to non-interleaved single files. workaround:
track-buffer!
bulletproof setting:
split signals, one machine with jack_capture, the other with Ardour.
Yes, this is a work iin progress. Mainly to test the upgraded Daisy server.
