Control Surfaces

Ardour supports several control surfaces: generic MIDI control surfaces, Logic Protocol compatible surfaces, the Frontier Tranzport device and others. Generic MIDI control can be used with any MIDI controller capable to send CC (Control Change) and/or MMC commands, such as the Behringer BCF2000/BCR2000. The Logic protocol can be used with controllers supporting the Mackie MCU protocol, but the Logic protocol is not yet fully implemented and configuring an MCU device is a challenging task. Setting up the Tranzport device is also tricky.  Additionally Ardour can be controlled via bluetooth with a Wii Remote Controller, for occasions when you are in a booth doing recording and the machine is elsewhere.

This chapter describes how to use generic MIDI control, Logic Control, WiiMote and Tranzport surfaces. Additionally, some short tutorials are included. Other Surfaces are experimental and are not described in this chapter.
